Another plein air piece from July. There is a wonderful park along the ocean that I hope to paint many more times. The mood of the sky and water is different every time. This day, the tide was somewhat low showing shallow rocks extending out from shore. A leaning tree, some wave action and a calm sky complete the scene.
Tom wrote another haiku for this one encapsulating in words my memory of painting that afternoon.

The West Coast has some stunning scenery. I had a very wonderful, serious relationship crash and burn out there, so my memories of it are very positive… but your paintings redeem it. No more crying into my cheesesteak hash at White Spot on a rainy Sunday morning for me!
At least you can joke about it now! …and good – re west coast scenery redemption!
Oops! I mean to say, “NOT very positive…”. One doesn’t cry at White Spot because they are happy! LOL!

I learned how to steer a yacht out there, rode a very nice old horse, played some fun gigs in and around Victoria, Vancouver, and Seattle, and did some eco-scuba (diving to pick up garbage). Once you do your first ocean dive you become a lifelong ally of the sea “people” and I like going down there to help my little crab and lingcod friends live happier, cleaner lives.
